Nollywood actress Ini Edo has sparked a wave of admiration and mixed reactions online after she shared clips from her recent visit to the Big Buddha Temple in Phuket, Thailand, where she revealed she prayed for Nigeria.

In a post shared on her Instagram, Ini Edo expressed that one of the things she cherishes most about travelling is the chance to explore different ways of life—including new cultures, cuisines, and spiritual experiences. She disclosed that she has long been fascinated by Buddhism, describing the religion as “peaceful, deeply reflective, and grounding.”

“I’ve always been captivated by the calmness and depth of Buddhist teachings,” she wrote. “This visit was both spiritual and enlightening. Of course, I took a moment to pray for Nigeria, we all need it.”

The video showed the actress dressed modestly in a temple-appropriate outfit, walking through the sacred grounds, lighting incense, and bowing in respect at the giant Buddha statue.

Fan Reactions:

The post drew a wave of support from fans who praised her open-mindedness and patriotism.

“It’s beautiful to see a celebrity using her platform to pray for the country,” one user wrote.

Another commented: “Buddhism teaches peace and kindness. We need more of this energy in Nigeria.”

However, some critics raised eyebrows over her engaging in a non-Christian religious practice. “I just hope we don’t lose our values while trying to explore the world,” one user warned.

Still, many others defended her right to explore spirituality on her own terms, applauding her maturity and growth.

Ini Edo’s travel diaries continue to inspire conversations around faith, cultural openness, and the need for national healing.
