The newly acquired presidential aircraft has been flown to South Africa for a comprehensive refitting and repainting exercise, sources within the presidency confirmed on Thursday.

According to officials familiar with the development, the jet—purchased as part of the federal government's efforts to upgrade the presidential fleet—will undergo interior remodeling, advanced tech installations, and a full exterior repaint to align with the official branding of the Nigerian presidency.

The decision to carry out the work in South Africa is reportedly due to the country’s superior aerospace facilities and faster turnaround time. However, the move has sparked early conversations among observers and critics who question the outsourcing of such work amid calls to improve local aviation infrastructure.

The presidency has yet to release an official statement regarding the cost, expected duration, or the specific modifications to be made.
