Kenya’s Cabinet has approved a sweeping new immigration policy that eliminates visa and Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirements for citizens of all African countries—except Somalia and Libya—as well as most Caribbean nations. Starting January (unspecified year), eligible travelers can “just show up” at Kenyan entry points and stay without applying in advance, paying fees, or filling forms.

Under the plan:

Non-East African Community (EAC) African nationals may stay for up to two months without permission.

EAC citizens (Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi) retain six-month stays under existing regional protocols.

An Advanced Passenger Information/ PNR system and a fast-track ETA process (max 72-hour turnaround) will remain for security and data collection.

This reform aligns with Kenya's broader strategy to boost regional integration, tourism, and trade, echoing the African Union’s Agenda 2063 push for free movement.
