The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled an illegal internet fraud training facility, commonly referred to as a "Yahoo School," located in the Iju area of Lagos. The operation led to the arrest of four primary suspects and six trainees, including a 12-year-old boy. ​

The arrested individuals are:

  • Primary Suspects:

    • Chibuike Ihejika, 23

    • Stanley Ihejika, 22​

    • Obiora Oyediba, 26

    • Emmanuel Oyedibe, 25

  • Trainees:

    • Okorie Henry​

    • Otoh Chisom, 20​

    • Okeke Kwufrochikwu, 26​

    • Uchenna Obeji, 26

    • Minachi Udochukwu, 12​

    • Chinedu Ukachukwu, 23


Preliminary investigations reveal that the primary suspects recruited trainees from Anambra State, instructing them in cybercrime techniques and confiscating the proceeds from their fraudulent activities. The underage trainee, Minachi Udochukwu, was reportedly subjected to physical abuse to compel compliance. He is currently receiving medical attention and is in protective custody until his relatives are identified for reunification.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the officers involved for their dedication and professionalism. He reiterated the command's commitment to combating all forms of cybercrime and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly. ​


Public Advisory

The police have advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their children's activities to prevent exploitation. They also encourage the public to report fraudulent activities to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba. ​


This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Nigerian law enforcement agencies to combat cybercrime and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
