Nigeria’s Super Falcons have once again cemented their continental dominance, winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after beating host nation Morocco in the final held at Olympic Stadium, Rabat, on July 26, 2025.

Road to Glory

Nigeria arrived in Morocco unbeaten, boasting an impeccable record of nine goals scored and none conceded through the group stage. They demolished Zambia 5–0 in the quarter-final and then edged reigning champions South Africa 2–1 in the semi-finals, reclaiming bragging rights in a fierce rivalry.

The Final Showdown

Facing Morocco, who were playing in front of a partisan home crowd and aiming for their first WAFCON title, Nigeria held firm. Despite trailing 2–0 at halftime, Nigeria mounted a spirited comeback. Esther Okoronkwo’s penalty narrowed the gap to 2–1 and kept the Super Falcons’ hope alive, though the host side held on for the win in a high-stakes match that felt like a test of nerve and legacy.
