A scuffle broke out at the Peoples Democratic Party’s national headquarters in Abuja on January 29 during a heated BCH Board of Trustees meeting over the contested National Secretary position between Sen. Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude‑Okoye. Eyewitnesses said Ude‑Okoye was forcibly removed from the meeting by aides and supporters of Anyanwụ, sparking a clash when his own backers attempted to reenter the hall.

Party chairman of the BoT, Adolphus Wabara, later blamed the incident on “inadequate security” at the secretariat and announced that future BoT meetings will now be held offsite until safety measures improve.

The altercation highlights simmering divisions within the PDP’s leadership. Both factions remain entrenched, and the party has yet to announce disciplinary action or a resolution to the crisis.
