Atiku Abubakar Blasts Tinubu Over Plateau Killings: "A National Disgrace"

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vehemently criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration over the escalating violence in Plateau State, describing Nigeria as a "killing field" under the current leadership. This condemnation follows a series of brutal attacks that have claimed numerous lives and displaced thousands in the region.

In a statement addressing the recent massacre in Mangu Local Government Area, where over 30 individuals were killed despite a 24-hour curfew, Atiku expressed deep sorrow and frustration. He emphasized that such heinous acts are a direct affront to the nation's unity and peace, urging security agencies to adopt a more proactive stance in preventing future tragedies

Atiku further highlighted the alarming state of insecurity, referencing the killing of a village head and 20 others in Niger State's Rafi Local Government Area. He asserted that these incidents underscore the government's failure to protect its citizens and called for the establishment of state police to enhance local security measures

The former Vice President also criticized President Tinubu's decision to embark on a private trip abroad amid the nation's security crises. He questioned the President's commitment to addressing the country's challenges, suggesting that if the responsibilities of leadership are overwhelming, Tinubu should consider stepping aside

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) echoed Atiku's sentiments, condemning the government's perceived inaction and insensitivity. The party called for a legislative investigation into the attacks and urged President Tinubu to visit the affected communities to demonstrate empathy and leadership

As the nation grapples with these security challenges, Atiku's remarks serve as a clarion call for decisive action to restore peace and protect the lives of Nigerian citizens.
