President Bola Tinubu has officially disavowed the proliferation of 2027 campaign billboards and promotional materials bearing his and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s images across Nigeria. The Presidency emphasized that these activities are unauthorized and contravene the nation's electoral laws.
In a statement released on Sunday, April 13, 2025, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, expressed dismay over the increasing number of such billboards, particularly in Abuja and Kano. He clarified that neither President Tinubu nor Vice President Shettima has endorsed any campaign activities for the 2027 elections. Onanuga stressed that premature campaigning is illegal and undermines the integrity of the electoral process.
The Presidency called on individuals and groups responsible for these unauthorized campaign materials to cease immediately. It reiterated that political campaigns are only permissible after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) releases the official timetable for elections.
President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima remain committed to their current mandate, focusing on economic revitalization, human capital development, infrastructural renewal, social investment, and national security. The administration urges all supporters to respect the rule of law and await official announcements regarding future political campaigns.
