Several high-profile bandit leaders responsible for terrorizing Katsina State’s Batsari, Safana, and Jibia local government areas have surrendered to security forces. Their decision comes after intensified military operations that left armed groups with dwindling options for survival.

Among those who turned themselves in are notorious figures such as Abu Radda, Umar Black, Abdullahi Lankai, Jijjige, and Dabar Musa Dan Gandu. These individuals, long considered major threats in the Jibia axis, have now renounced their criminal activities.

According to intelligence sources, relentless military offensives targeting bandit hideouts forced them to abandon their operations and seek reconciliation. The surrender was facilitated by the National Community for Security and Societal Advancement in Katsina (NCSOSACK), led by Comrade Hamisa S. Batsari, which played a crucial role in negotiating peace efforts between the government and affected communities.

As part of the deal, the ex-bandits handed over their weapons to the military and released several hostages they had previously abducted. They have also called on the government to support their reintegration by providing alternative means of livelihood, including the construction of markets, hospitals, and access to clean water.

While security forces have acknowledged the surrender, top military officials have made it clear that operations will continue against remaining criminal elements. Authorities insist that no compromises will be made until banditry is completely eradicated in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and other troubled areas in the North West.
